Someone
is responsible for sexual violence.
Sexual violence comes in many forms. Society usually thinks of
it as being inflicted by a stranger but in most cases the attacker
is known to the woman - a husband, boyfriend, neighbour, work colleague
or even a family member.
Too often emphasis is placed on making women take responsibility for sexual
violence - wrong place, time, clothes, attitude - rather than the person inflicting
the violence.
It is not the survivor’s fault
Watford Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Line (WRC)
is a woman centred organisation; a charity run by and for women.
We support and work with women who have been raped or sexually abused, no matter
when or how it happened.
In every case we offer support, sensitive to the individual’s needs,
as well as links to relevant organisations, information and access to free
legal advice.
We do not work with male survivors but treat male callers sympathetically and
will give contact details of appropriate support organisations.
